Tennis player, Ashley Harkleroad, who is presently ranked at #61, has teamed up with Playboy to expose herself in the August issue and the girl’s got game! She netted the pictorial to aid all women who have poor body image…that’s easy for her to say as most women don’t serve up a body that looks like Harkelroad’s!

Ashley’s volley of quotes in Playboy:

“I do think athletes have better sex,” she asserts with a bashful giggle. “Who wants a waify girl with no definition to her body? I like that I have some power and that everything’s tight.”

“Tennis players don’t mind showing off their bodies. “Often in the locker room I feel other girls’ eyes on me.”

Smashing, Ashley! She gleefully admits to thinking her body looks great…some tennis players garner attention through their on court play.  Give, Harkleroad kudos for being realistic and aware that Playboy will get her more publicity and notoriety right now than her tennis. Her highest ranking was in 2003 when she hit #39.  She has been married and divorced to a tennis pro and is currently engaged to another serve and volley man.

Olympic gymnast, Paul Hamm, will not be heading to China to defend his all-around men’s gymnastics title. His apparent quick comeback from a broken bone in his hand, which he suffered in May, has been stymied. One of the American team’s 3 alternates will take his spot.

In a statement, Hamm said, “I have put my heart and soul into the comeback and done everything I could to get ready in time to compete in Beijing. After returning home from the preparation camp, I had a few physical setbacks and it became clear to me that my physical preparations would not be sufficient to properly represent the United States and contribute to the team’s efforts to win a medal.”

You gotta hand it to him, he’s not a spoiled hamm…definitely a team player.

Yankee great, Bernie Williams, will get his due before Yankee Stadium is torn down.  Williams, who played center field for the Yankees from 1991-2006, will be honored before the end of the season.

Williams recently released his latest CD, “Journey From Within”, a contemporary, Latin flavored jazz album.

With all the money athletes make and the enormous posse’s they roll with,  when they might need assistance, don’t any of them have friends around or access to taxis, limos or God forbid, mass transit?

Add Buffalo Bills running back, Marshawn Lynch, to the ever growing list of hit-and-run offenders.  In the early hours of May 31st, he knocked down a woman, injuring her.  Lynch just pleaded guilty.

BY pleading guilty, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said Lynch did not violate the league’s personal conduct policy…running is an on the field activity, preferably in daylight!

Retired NY Met, Lenny Dykstra who is now a member of the multi-millionaire’s club (he’s made a fortune as a financial adviser) has his LA house on the market. The house — 12,713 square feet, 8 bedrooms, 7 baths on 7 acres — has now been listed by Sotheby’s International in Brentwood. The former owner was hockey superstar, Wayne Gretsky.

Asking price: a cool $24.9 million

While we are tackling Giant issues, 7 time All-Pro defensive end, Michael Strahan is joining the Fox’s NFL pre-game show. He should be able to hold his own with Bradshaw, Long, and Jones.
